1) Learn Scottish Culture
Our goal is to be in Scotland for the rest of our lives! With that goal in mind, we'd like to spend the first year of our ministry in Scotland working with the Cashner family at Bethel Baptist Church in a town called Tain. By working with the Cashner family, we'll be able to gain valuable insights concering the culture and customs of the Scottish people. After the first year, we still plan on working with the Cashner family as closely as possible. Brother Cashner and I would both like to see churches planted all around the highlands of Scotland, and we plan on taking a team-approach, working closely with one another, to see that accomplished.
2) Distribute Gospel-Literature
The two main areas that we would like to reach are Elgin and Inverness. They are both located in the highlands, and are the two main population areas of that region. My family and I plan on reaching those areas, as well as the surrounding towns and villages with gospel-literature. This literature would include tracts, flyers, correspondence Bible study material, etc... The material that we distribute will include response cards, so that we can follow up with those who show interest in the things of God's Word.
3) Hold In-Home Bible Studies
As people show interest in the literature that we've distributed, we'd like to offer them in-home Bible studies. The main focus of these Bible studies will be the presentation of the gospel. Once we see people receive Christ as their Saviour, we would then begin to teach them about the importance of baptism, and church membership.
4) Plant Churches
Our main goal in going to Scotland, is to see true, New Testament Baptist churches planted all around the country. Once we see people saved and baptized, we'd like to start churches where we can teach the people all things that Christ commanded.
5) Train National Pastors
We believe the Biblical work of a missionary is planting churches, and training national pastors for the ministry. In our case, we'd like to plant churches, and train Scottish men, who will stay as the permanent pastors of those churches.
Obviously, there are many other things involved in the ministry of church-planting that we have not listed. But these are the basic ministry plans that we will be employing during our time in Scotland. With the Lord's help, we really believe that we'll see lives changed, churches started, and men trained for the gospel ministry!
