Our Latest Round of Meetings

Our time in Colorado has been fruitful, to this point.  Every Sunday and Wednesday has been scheduled, and many of the church have shown an interest in our ministry.  A couple of weeks ago, we had the opportunity to present our ministry at Old Paths Baptist Church in Salida, CO.  Brother Mike Thornsley is the pastor.  After the service, the church voted to take us on for support.  What a blessing!  I wasn't expecting it, because the church is only six months old, and the pastor is still receiving support himself.  But, praise the Lord!

My wife's family had been friends with Brother Thornsleys family for a number of years.  Both of their dads were missionaries in Germany, and frequently visited each other on the field.

Starting that Sunday Night, we attended a missions conference in Wheat Ridge, CO at Ridgeview Baptist Church.  Brother Jud Riley is the pastor.  There were two missionary families that were scheduled to be in the conference.  One of them being our family, and the other missionaries to Australia.  Each night, we would present our ministry to a small group of church members, then one of us would preach.  Brother Thornsley from Salida, CO (pictured on the right) dropped in on Sunday Night, and preached the first message.  My turn came on Tuesday, and I preached a message called "Pray For Us" dealing with how we should pray for missionaries.  To this point, we've been in 15 missions conferences, and I've never heard anyone preach a message on that topic.

Prayer Support is absolutely vital to the ministry!  Many think because they've given to missions, that their duty is fulfilled.  But, may I say, that we all have an obligation to pray for those who carry the light of the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth. The Apostle Paul, no doubt the greatest missionary of all time, said this: "Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:" (2 Thess 3:1)  You and I can be partners with our missionaries, simply by bringing them to the throne of grace!
