The Statue of Liberty

Today, my family and I drove out to Liberty State Park near Jersey City, NJ.  From the park, we were able to see the Statue of Liberty (pictured on the right), as well as Ellis Island.  Both the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island were beacons of hope to those who wished to enter this country.  From 1892 to 1943, 17 million people immigrated to the United States of America through Ellis Island (legally!).

Harry and Kathy had a good time, as well.  Harry has been wanting to see the Statue of Liberty for a while.  He has a Patch the Pirate CD called "The Great American Time Machine" in which the Statue of Liberty acts as a tour guide through American history.  (I didn't come up with the idea - I'm just telling you about it!)  He especially enjoyed getting his picture taken with a miniature Statue of Liberty (on the left) in the Liberty State Park Diner.  He kept asking us, "Is that man holding a flashlight?"  You can't make this stuff up!

All in all, our East Coast trip has been a great blessing!  We've enjoyed presenting our ministry in churches in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland.  And, we've enjoyed the New York style pizza - thanks again Brother Fryman, and Brother Morrison!  But, all good things must come to an end.  We have one more meeting in Maryland this Sunday (July 24th), then we head back toward the Midwest.  May the Lord bless His faithful servants in the Northeast!
